A self-taught painter, Joanna has always looked to art in one form or another to balance her curious and busy mind. Originally trained in ballet at Walnut Hill School, Joanna spent the first half of her career in the arts dancing professionally with small ballet and modern dance companies in New England, though not until after earning a B.S. in Physics from UMASS-Amherst and a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Florida. Since then, Joanna has taught ballet and yoga throughout Central Massachusetts, served as a Visiting Professor of Astronomy at Mount Holyoke College for five years, and most recently begun her own journey of self-discovery through visual art.
